My massage style is a blend of many different techniques developed from both Eastern and Western healing systems. They are different for each person. Everyone has different needs: some people prefer energizing strokes, others enjoy slow and relaxing ones; some need deeper work to reach lower-layered problem areas, others will benefit more from joint mobilization, energy work for balancing and soothing strokes for relaxation. Many times, these techniques are combined in a single session. I encourage and support feedback from my clients, so each session is tailored to their specific needs. The following techniques are most frequently used in my sessions:
I use a blend of scent-free lotion and light oils that absorb into the skin. Gentle stretching may be also incorporated if my client enjoys this. I also enjoy sharing stretching and vitalizing exercises that are drown from many different approaches and are part of my Somatic Movement Therapy education. It is extremely beneficial for recovery of many injuries as well as for overall health.
While receiving massage it is most beneficial to remain relaxed. As your body relaxes my hands do the rest inviting it to the state of balance and harmony. If you are uncomfortable at any time during the massage for any reason, please don't hesitate to let me know. Remain relaxed and always remember to breathe fully letting the breath unlock the areas of stress and exhaustion. As you breathe fully it will allow the changes in your body to appear naturally. Often you will find yourself falling asleep. Feel free to drift away. You will still be getting the full benefit of the work. During the session your body and mind often will experience a deep relaxation which will turn into a nap. A nice music and the warm room will accompany you in this experience of integration.
